organization dedicated to saving lives through education. The award was announced at

What exactly is a damage prevention hero? Each quarter, the best of the best are identified and elected by industry peers with the quarterly heroes competing for the coveted “Hero of the Year”. Potential Heroes in damage prevention show an unrivaled commitment to a culture of safety and
in Ketha’s case, she ventures far beyond the requirements
of her job. Ketha has an extraordinary ability to identify underserved stakeholder groups and geographic regions and then develop effective means to improve outreach and ultimately reduce the damage ratio for that organization
or region. Her work as vice-president of the Damage Prevention Council of Texas provides her a platform to influence tens of thousands of stakeholders from front-
line workers to company presidents. Perhaps the most impactful initiative Ketha is working on is “Leading
Women of Damage Prevention”, a social enterprise designed for the advancement of women who have an interest in protecting underground infrastructure. Ketha’s vision as creator and president of the organization is to influence and encourage all women in the damage prevention industry
to be bold, confident, and brilliant through collaboration, empowerment, and networking.
For over 20 years, Ketha has been establishing and cultivating strong partnerships, developing successful safety programs and initiatives, creating a culture of empowerment and workplace responsibility, and using her skills to advance and develop worker and public safety in the construction industry.
As the organization’s program manager, it has been my honor to work alongside Ketha on Damage Prevention Council of Texas initiatives. You can read more about
why Ketha was chosen as Damage Prevention Hero in the Spring issue of dp-Pro magazine at www.dp-pro.com. To learn more about Leading Women of Damage Prevention and how the DPC of Texas can assist your company in protecting underground infrastructure, visit our website at www.dpcoftexas.org
