Damage Prevention
Council of Texas
Provides Free Safety
Meetings
By Doug Meeks Texas811
Texas is slowly getting back to normal, and the Damage Prevention Council of Texas board of directors has lifted gathering restrictions for
all sanctioned meetings, training, and events! Our board members and hundreds of volunteers are once again available to travel to your location and provide free on-site employee safety meetings on a variety of damage prevention and worker safety topics. While our safety meetings are especially beneficial to front-line workers, we also provide your management team the opportunity for face-to-face Q&A where they can ask more complex questions, which can help them better manage their projects.
Our primary mission is to assist underground construction personnel in understanding how adherence to Texas’
safe digging regulations and application of industry best practices can improve worker & public safety and prevent disruption of utility services. Our volunteer instructors are subject matter experts on efficient use of the 811 system, positive response to locate requests, safe excavation practices around underground facilities, and damage investigation. Should your employees rupture a pipeline
or encounter high voltage electric cables, we have gas and electric industry professionals who can provide guidance on how to reduce the chance of a flash fire and the potential for electrocution.
In conjunction with our OSHA Alliance, our volunteers also include occupational safety professionals who speak on a variety of construction safety topics. These one-hour sessions include trench safety, fleet safety, work zone & traffic control, and many other worker safety topics that can help reduce the chance of injury or death on the job site.

The Damage Prevention Council of Texas is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to the prevention of damage to underground facilities, public safety, and environmental protection through stakeholder education and communication. Comprised of 23 independent chapters active across the State of Texas, we welcome all stakeholders who would like to be a part of the damage prevention solution. As a contractor and professional excavator working in Texas, you are invited to participate in any of the stakeholder roundtables which meet on a regular basis in a city or town near you. Don’t be part of the problem when there’s an easy way to be part of the solution!
