DPC of Texas Excavation Safety Days Score Big in Lubbock and Abilene
The Damage Prevention Council of Texas (DPC) can mark two recent successes in their ongoing effort to promote safety in the excavation industry. Their Excavation Safety Day events in Lubbock on June 7th and Abilene on June 12th drew strong participation and positive feedback. With over 400 attendees between the two events, the DPC of Texas upheld its mission to provide safe excavation education and public awareness of the need to contact 811 before any digging project.
These educational events allowed attendees to learn about best
practices for safe excavation. Industry professionals delivered insightful presentations, while outdoor demonstrations showcased real-
world techniques and equipment.
The events also fostered a sense of community, allowing for networking among attendees and showcasing the importance of collaboration in keeping workplaces safe.
Focus on Education and Awareness
The DPC of Texas strongly emphasizes the ‘one-call’ process, a crucial step

that mandates
contacting
Texas811 before
commencing any
excavation project. This
process, which helps to locate and mark underground utilities, is instrumental in preventing accidental damage and potential injury. The Excavation Safety Days educated attendees about this vital process.
