Texas811 Celebrates Our 40th Anniversary with the Entire Damage Prevention Industry at the CGA Expo
We were front and center
at the CGA (Common Ground Alliance) Expo in Colorado Springs, April 15 through 18, in a booth that showcased our accomplishments of the last 40 years.
The Common Ground Alliance is
the premier national organization representing all stakeholders involved in utility damage prevention – utilities, one-calls, excavators, locators, government regulators, equipment manufacturers, software providers, and damage prevention consultants.
Over 1,400 industry stakeholders walked past our booth at the entrance
to the almost 100,000 sf exhibition hall.
Chris Stovall held a Meet and Greet with attendees who wanted to say hello and many others who had substantive questions they wanted Chris’ opinion on. His session brought a lot of visitors to our booth.
Fiber Optic Sensing Presentation
Kyle VanLandingham, our Director of Business Development, and Enrique Reyes, CenterPoint Energy’s Manager of Damage Prevention and Line Locating, spoke about a joint test we conducted in Houston in March. The test demonstrated the viability of using Fiber Optic Sensing to identify
excavation activity near a protected utility line. This application offers a solution to the number one cause of damage to underground utility lines
– excavation without a one-call ticket. Using this application allows utility members to receive an alert when excavation activity is detected in an area without a valid one-call ticket. The utility member can intervene before damage occurs.
Despite the less-than-ideal schedule of speaking on Wednesday afternoon when some attendees were headed home, and others were enjoying the Colorado scenery, Kyle and Enrique spoke to a standing-room-only crowd.
