involved in pipeline safety initiatives, public awareness, and damage prevention outreach.
In 2020, DPC of Texas applied for and was awarded its first PHMSA Technical Assistance Grant for $100,000, the maximum amount allowed under the program. The purpose of the funding was to create and share pipeline safety training that was easy to follow and accessible from anywhere online. In the summer of 2021, the DPC launched its “Living and Working Near Pipelines in Texas” training which is FREE to everyone who enrolls and completes the four modules. Each participant
will receive a certificate of completion after completing the modules and quizzes. The entire course, from start to finish, takes approximately 1.5
hours and can easily be accessed by visiting our website at www.dpcoftexas. org. Thank you to everyone who has taken advantage of this pipeline safety training opportunity. We hope you found it valuable.
In addition to the 2020 TAG, we were recently awarded an additional TAG
in the amount of $100,000 to fund
an online training course focused on
coastal and marine pipeline damage
prevention. We are excited to offer
this opportunity as part of our online
damage prevention education which
is projected to launch sometime in
late 2023. Stay tuned for updates and

Aside from TAG, when PHMSA is mentioned in our industry we tend to identify the agency with pipeline safety regulation enforcement and
the most prominent being the annual Texas811 Damage Prevention Summit. If you would like to have a PHMSA Community Liaison speak at a DPC chapter meeting or other industry events, contact me at jenniferpratt@ dpcoftexas.org and I can connect you with Jay or Bill.
In closing, I’d like to thank all of our members for supporting the DPC
of Texas. We are only as strong as
our members, and we have the best members in the industry. The DPC
of Texas is successful because of you and your continued support, so a huge thanks goes out to you all.
